A group of persons have forcibly stopped work on Head Race Tunnel (HRT) at adit-I & II of Sawra-Kuddu Hydro Electric Project (HEP) being built by H.P. Power Corporation Ltd. They are agitating that they have not been paid their dues. HPPCL wants to clarify that they are suppliers/sub contractors of M/s Kirloskar Constructions Company Ltd. which is a Joint Venture Partner executing the Head Race Tunnel of this project.
HPPCL has cleared all dues of M/s Kirloskar Construction Company Ltd. This company may further have not paid to the sub contractors / suppliers for which HPPCL is not responsible. As HPPCL is not a party to any contract which M/s Kirloskar Construction Company Ltd. may have made with any other supplier or contractor, it is, therefore, illegal and unfair to create hindrance in work of HPPCL as this will result in further loss of time as well as increase in liabilities. While HPPCL is willing to help in recovering the dues, HPPCL cannot take this responsibility and the sufferers are free to approach court of law or any legal remedy.
If anyone disrupts working in the project in an illegal manner HPPCL will be constrained to report the matter to the concerned authorities for appropriate action as per law. HPPCL, therefore, appeals to the parties whose payments are due to resort to legal methods only for recovery of their dues. HPPCL would also like to mention that HPPCL has already given notice to M/s Kirloskar Construction Company Ltd. for taking over the work due to non performance.
